That is a good idea – I never think that there is a walk-in there. It’s very close to me too!

Why not just look for a family dr rather than a ped?

Wow Krista. Just unbelievable.
Our pediatrician retired a while ago and so we switched our girls to the family doctor that DH and I go to. It was a great transition, and so I wouldn’t necessarily limit to just a pediatrician. If you can find a good family doctor, they can be just as wonderful. Good luck, it’s not easy.

Not a pediatrician, but check with Dr.B and either of the two doctors that she shares an office with. I like all three of them and they have all been excellent with Monkey! Plus, they have a great after-hours clinic setup.

Good luck, is all I can say! We had a doctor for the kids’ well baby checks up to a year old, then we were told that was it…they needed the spaces for babies. Haven’t had one since, and have one kid with allergies and asthma. We use the walk-in at the Loblaws at Baseline and Merivale for non-emergency stuff (ear infections etc) since they’ll take Quebec cards with no charge, unlike Appletree, and hit CHEO for urgencies. I’m lucky enough to have an allergist in Gatineau who’ll write prescriptions for enough epipens and inhalers for 5 years, at which point he’s assessed again. Hard, but we manage…have no choice. :/

oh what a terrible experience. Well more likes experiences. I wish I could help. We stumbled upon a pediatrician when we were refered by our midwives. He was fantastic. And then retired! (the nerve) And I called almost every single pediatrician in the phone book and got nothing. So then I moved onto family doctors. I finally got ONE call back. So now we have to truck to Orleans to go tot he doctor. But she is lovely, very thorough and listens. I don’t know if the clinic is still taking patients, but let me know if you want to try.
